Client Art Exhibit Time!

The past couple weeks have been crazy with gathering release forms, collecting art, and finding creative/cheap/landlord-approved ways to display it in our space. We are especially excited about the Community Portrait Quilt, which is basically a huge wall of self portraits from each EC student we serve. I hope lots of families come - the kids are always so proud to see their work in a "gallery"...

November So Far

We had a very cool client art show at ATI:

My kindergarten art club worked on (adorable) paintings on canvas:

I ate a sweet potato and ham empanada that changed my life:

I spent a lot of time in the studio working on making mugs for my etsy shop:

I helped the kids and families on the inpatient unit make a gigantic, room-wrapping paper chain:

Brian came to visit and he and Eli played tons of frisbee and we enjoyed the southern fall scenery:

A Pause for Pottery

I've been away from the blog for a while, working on a bit of a different creative pursuit - pottery. It's something I did as a teenager when I had access to a studio and a great teacher at my high school. That was the last time I sat down at a pottery wheel until this summer. I signed up at a local ceramics studio as part of a summer self-care plan I made for myself, and now I can't believe I went these years without it. It is the best therapy.
Anyways, I've been making lots of things and have begun to put them up in my etsy shop. Click here if you'd like to see.

Modular at Home

I saw a Chicago apartment tour online and really liked the simple modular furniture idea that the renters created. They have many wooden boxes on wheels, and use them throughout the apartment as shelving, a coffee table, benches, and even a dining table.
