Updo

I've been playing around with ideas for wedding hair. I'm thinking something braided and up and not too fussy. Maybe with a few flowers or a pretty headband stuck in there.

Some Free Time

The school year ended last week so I only have one job for a little while, and I have big plans.
  1. Make a lasagna for Eli
  2. Put together a newsletter for ATI
  3. Catch up on Mad Men
  4. Make place cards, table numbers, and other wedding-related goodies
  5. Clean out my car (which has been a mobile art storage center for a year and is in need of some intense organizing)
  6. Weed and plant in the rest of our raised garden beds
  7. Visit with Anna and Joseph and tiny Henry (!!!!!)

Surprise Treats

After a long workday I arrived at my monthly clinical meeting to find Eva setting up this pre-wedding cupcake and "cake ball" display for me. My colleagues at ATI are really nice people. And if thet wasn't enough, I also got this three-foot-tall card today from one of the classes I work with:

Clothespin Doll Kits

At the end of last quarter, I made each of the art club kids a tiny clay animal as a goodbye gift. I was thinking maybe this time I would give them each a couple art supplies or a mini journal to use during summer break. After some thinking I decided to make them each a little clothespin doll kit, with supplies for them to make their own little set of peg people over the summer.
Each kit contains two clothespins (every clothespin doll needs a friend), a tuft of wool roving (this is my favorite material for hair), a length of wool yarn...
Plus a pile of assorted fabric and ribbon scraps (and a pre-cut bow-tie/hair-bow, just for fun):
To package them up, I decorated mini kraft paper bags with fingerprints...
 then added details...
 plus names...
and stuffed them each with a set of the clothespin doll supplies.

(P.S. here's a bowl-full of clothespin dolls I made)

This Week in Photos

1. Got some new supplies for a kid-art project next week:
2. Spent time on the patio with the birds and the slugs (yes, that slug is 4 inches long):
3. Rearranged and hung some artwork around the house:
4. Said goodbye to Brian for 5 months (he's off to Ohio to work on the Obama campaign):
5. Stayed up late finishing the end-of-the-year chart summaries for each of my students:
6. Brushed a Darby-sized ball of fur out of Darby:
7. Worked on even more projects for the wedding:
