train artist

coming home from work today, there was an old man on the train with a large pad of newsprint and some sticks of charcoal. he was drawing people's portraits, then tearing them from his pad and giving them to the people he drew, all without saying a word. there is something really powerful about being drawn, and somehow that power was amplified by the fact that this man was a stranger - that this would likely be our one and only interaction. it felt like an honor and a revelation and a gift.

Beautiful -- Both the drawing and the sentiment.
