betsy and faythe

since my sister works at columbia college in the department that brought betsy greer and faythe levine to chicago to give a lecture, i was able to get myself invited along to dinner with them last night. as in, i had sushi with betsy and faythe. i don't know if you know what that means, but i am a reader of both of their blogs (here and here) and also own their books, and pretty much want to be them, or, you know, be interesting enough to be friends with them. so i was a little bit starstruck and a little bit intimidated, but i managed to not be too googley and didn't even embarrass myself by trying to take any pictures of them.

however, i also managed to not talk about a lot of the things i wanted to talk to them about (art therapy! grafitti! outsider art! funding and grant writing for art and social change projects! artworks!) because i was nervous. so there's yet another example of how i am the most tragic networker ever. BUT, i did have a really fun time, and learned a lot listening to them speak, and have a renewed energy for making things, which i am going to go do right now.
